About
It is quite common when working on real-world problems that the available information suffers from uncertainty, imprecision or incompleteness. At the same time, huge machine-readable data sets which are a valuable source of information remain unexplored due to their complexity. Soft Computing (SC) and Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA) form a powerful combination to cope with these situations. Applications can be found in all sectors: engineering, finance, marketing, operations research, bioinformatics, medicine,...
The tremendous potential of Soft Computing and Intelligent Data Analysis is not a vague idea but a reality in plenty of industrial sectors with applications and products such as: appliances as cameras, automotive equipment as intelligent parking systems, monitors for traffic control, risk management for insurance and bank products, tools to optimize the production of industrial plants, decision support systems for health applications, etc. The European Centre for Soft Computing and the University of Oviedo have joined forces to offer a Master in Soft Computing and Intelligent Data Analysis.
Over 90% of our MS Students found a job less than one year after obtaining their degree, which confirms the need of the society to rapidly incorporate such qualified professionals to different sectors.
Objectives
The general objective of the Master program is to train students for highly qualified positions in a wide range of jobs in the public and the private sector as well as to provide students with the foundations required to pursue a PhD degree.
The curriculum emphasizes up to date scientific knowledge and the application of analytical problem-solving skills to several types of common business problems: forecasting, optimization, classification, data mining, etc.
Who should apply?
The program offers a new, non-traditional degree and is designed to accommodate candidates with a diversity of backgrounds and interests:
