Cognitive Computing: Computing with Perceptions
Principal researcher

Dr. Gracián Triviño

Presentation

This Research Unit focuses its research on the design and development of advanced computational systems called Personalized Cognitive Assistants (PCAs). The main goal of PCAs is to create a symbiotic relationship between the user and a computing device. This unit studies emerging subjects such as Computing with Words and Perceptions or Affective Computing. The design of PCAs is based in systems that adapt to the necessities and characteristics of the users, interact with the user employing natural language and have learning abilities.

These ideas are embodied in prototypes applied to different areas where there’s interaction between humans and machines. The Unit is working in applications such as new automatic teller machines that can use natural language, an intelligent device that can help drivers and an assistant system for people in medical rehabilitation.
