Our goal is developing computational systems able to provide linguistic descriptions of complex phenomena. The results of our work are applicable to many cases where monitoring and controlling complex data is required.
New technologies allow to acquire and store huge amounts of data about phenomena evolution. Nevertheless, this information must be interpreted and represented in a practical way. This includes establishing relationships of the input data with the available information on the specific phenomenon context and history.
Currently, this type of descriptions is elaborated by human experts. Nevertheless the rate between the amount of data to analyze and the number of available experts is dramatically getting worst.
Therefore, the demand of computational applications able to interpret data and provide relevant linguistic descriptions is quickly increasing.
The team of this research unit is working in this research line in collaboration with other national and international research teams. Additionally, we collaborate with several companies developing practical projects in this field, e.g.:
• Automatic generation of evaluation reports in driving simulators
• Generation of textual advices aimed to improve the efficiency in the consumption of energy by the clients of an electricity and gas supplier company.
• Linguistic description of traffic behavior using information extracted from video images.
• Linguistic model of the human gait
