
The jury, composed of the members of the Scientific Committee of the ECSC, decided in this third edition to award the prize to Prof. Witold Pedrycz, in consideration of his pioneering and multifaceted contributions to Granular Computing which
Prof. Pedrycz’s work is widely known with more than 300 papers in international journals. His papers have received the attention of the community with a large number of citations in the ISI Web of Sciences, being a Highly cited researcher, the highest recognition from ISI (HighlyCited.com).
Prof. Pedrycz was President of the prestigious associations IFSA and NAFIPS. He has received honors and awards from IEEE, NAFIPS, IFSA, JSPS among others. He maintains an active participation as a recognized researcher editorial committee member in many journals, being Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics- part A, since January 2008, and Information Sciences (Elsevier), since December 2003.
Witold Pedrycz is Professor and Canada Research Chair in Computational Intelligence at the University of Alberta, Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Edmonton, Canada, and member of the Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland.
